At Walser Subaru St. Paul, we believe the people shaping our communities often do it quietly, without recognition, and with far more personal sacrifice than most people realize. That belief inspired our "Teacher Who Made a Difference" campaign during Teacher Appreciation Week. The campaign invited community members to nominate a teacher who made a meaningful impact on students, families, or the broader community. We asked for real stories. Stories about teachers who stay late, show up early, support families beyond the classroom, and help shape lives in ways that cannot be measured by grades or test scores. The nominations were emotional, thoughtful, and deeply personal. It became clear that teachers are doing far more than educating. They are helping build stronger families and stronger communities. One nomination especially stood out. Natalie, a Parent Educator at Wheelock Early Learning Center's ECFE program, was nominated by her colleague Tracy, who wrote: "There isn't a teacher out there with a bigger heart than Natalie. She loves the parents, she loves the children, and she loves building relationships that last well beyond their time in our program." As we learned more about Natalie and the work she does, it became clear her impact reaches far beyond a classroom. Early childhood educators and parent educators are often doing some of the most impactful work in education, yet they rarely receive the recognition they deserve. Every day, Natalie helps parents navigate some of the hardest and most emotional parts of raising young children. She supports families through sleep struggles, emotional development, setting boundaries, preschool decisions, literacy, and the countless questions that come with being a parent. For many families, Natalie is there during moments filled with uncertainty, exhaustion, and self-doubt. And she meets those moments with patience, compassion, and reassurance. She helps children feel safe, supported, and encouraged during some of the most important years of their development. The relationships she builds do not end when a program ends. Families continue to remember her because of the way she made them feel seen, heard, and cared for. What impacted us most was Natalie's reaction after being selected. Instead of talking about herself, she simply said it was "an honor for our school to even be nominated," adding that programs like theirs are often forgotten. We wanted this campaign to do more than simply recognize a great teacher. We wanted to tangibly support someone who spends so much of their own time, energy, and often personal finances helping others succeed. This campaign reminded us how many teachers spend their own money to make sure students and families have what they need. We wanted to do more than say thank you. Natalie was awarded a classroom grant to help purchase supplies and resources for the families and children she serves, along with a service voucher from our dealership. And even if programs like hers are sometimes overlooked, the impact she has on people's lives will never be forgotten. At Walser Subaru St. Paul, we are honored we could recognize someone like Natalie and celebrate the educators who continue to give so much of themselves to others. Because behind every confident child, supported family, and hopeful future, there is often a teacher quietly helping make it possible. Thank you, Natalie, and thank you to every teacher, educator, counselor, and support staff member who continues to pour their heart into helping others grow. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and our communities are stronger because of people like you.

At Walser Subaru St. Paul, being part of the community means more than selling cars. It means showing up for our neighbors, supporting local families, and helping make St. Paul a better place to live, work, and raise a family. As part of the Subaru Love Promise and the Subaru Loves to Help initiative, our team recently partnered with Operation Warm and Neighborhood House to support children and families in our community. While this year's Operation Warm event was canceled due to safety concerns, the mission never stopped. Subaru and Operation Warm still donated more than 500 winter jackets, ensuring local youth stayed warm during the coldest months of the year. These jackets are more than just outerwear. They represent comfort, confidence, and care for families who need it most. For many families, access to basic necessities can make a meaningful difference in daily life. When we come together as a community, we create a stronger, more supportive environment for everyone. Through programs like Subaru Loves to Help, we're reminded that small actions, when multiplied, can have a powerful impact. At Walser Subaru St. Paul, we're dedicated to continuing our work with local partners, nonprofits, and community organizations that share our values. Together, we're building a stronger, more caring community, one act of kindness at a time.

Every year, Subaru dealerships help turn hope into a reality for Minnesota kids facing a critical illness. Subaru’s impact reaches kids like Ellie. When Ellie was born, a rare metabolic disorder caused her to stop breathing, leading to multiple brain injuries and lifelong seizures. Today, at nine years old, Ellie continues to fight daily battles with her health. Despite these challenges, she finds joy in the stars. When Ellie was referred to Make-A-Wish Minnesota, she knew exactly what she wished for: a trip to Yellowstone to see the stars in all their glory. During the day, Ellie explored geysers, wildlife, and natural wonders. At night, her family gathered around the campfire making s’mores and watching the sky light up with stars. “Seeing Ellie’s face light up each day was my favorite part,” her mom, Nichole shared. “The wish was a breath of fresh air for our entire family.” Because of Subaru’s continued support through Share the Love, wishes like Ellie’s are made possible. Together, Subaru and Make-A-Wish Minnesota are delivering hope, strength, and unforgettable joy to families when they need it most.

In October, Walser Subaru St. Paul proudly celebrated Subaru Loves Pets Month by partnering with Animal Ark for its annual Make a Dog’s Day pet adoption event. The community came together to support local shelter pets, helping dogs in need find loving homes and celebrating the animals already cherished by Twin Cities families. As part of the nationwide Subaru Love Promise, Subaru retailers dedicate every October to supporting shelter animals. Staying true to that mission, Walser Subaru St. Paul hosted a month-long raffle to raise funds for Animal Ark, helping support the organization’s continued efforts to care for and rehome animals in need. The Subaru Loves Pets initiative highlights how this promise extends far beyond the showroom and into the heart of the community. The event drew an incredible turnout of families, Animal Ark volunteers, and pet lovers from across the metro. Guests were invited to bring their own dogs for a day of fun, celebration, and furry companionship. Attendees enjoyed a pet photo booth, goodie bags filled with treats and giveaways, and local food trucks offering delicious bites throughout the day. It was a true community celebration for pet lovers and their four-legged friends alike. Throughout the day, guests met adoptable dogs from Animal Ark, a local nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals across Minnesota. Several dogs found their forever homes during the event, marking a day filled with smiles, wagging tails, and new beginnings. By hosting events like Make a Dog’s Day, Walser Subaru St. Paul continues to demonstrate why Subaru is recognized as one of the most caring brands in the nation. Every adoption, every happy pet, and every community connection reflects the heart of the Subaru Love Promise, a lasting commitment to kindness, compassion, and making a difference for pets and people alike.

Walser St. Paul Subaru recently partnered with Tree Trust to help restore Spruce Park in South St. Paul. This effort is part of the Subaru Love Promise, our ongoing commitment to caring for the earth and the communities we serve. Through a financial contribution and the support of more than 20 volunteers, we planted 15 new trees to replace those lost to severe weather and disease. This effort is especially important as nearly 60 percent of the city’s trees have been removed in recent years, making replanting vital to the health of the community. These newly planted trees will help improve air quality, reduce carbon emissions, and provide shade for residents to enjoy for generations. Together with Tree Trust, we are proud to invest in a healthier, more sustainable future, because Subaru Loves the Earth.

This 2025 back-to-school season, Walser Subaru in St. Paul proudly extended its support to Kaposia Education Center Elementary School, partnering through AdoptAClassroom.org to ensure local educators and students have essential supplies for a successful year. Through the partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru nationally is proud to be the largest corporate supporter of AdoptAClassroom.org and has supported more than 950,000 students nationwide. The need for support remains critical. AdoptAClassroom.org reports that over 92% of classrooms have students whose families cannot afford basic school supplies. In many instances, teachers buy supplies out of pocket, now averaging $895 per year. With its contribution to Kaposia Education Center, Walser Subaru in St. Paul is easing the financial burden on teachers and providing students with vital resources to thrive. June 25 was a day of smiles as the Walser Subaru St. Paul team delivered many smiles along with the soft fleece blankets and heartfelt handwritten message for cancer patients at Regions Hospital. This partnership between The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Subaru of America retailers across the country has been blessing blood cancer patients for the past 10 years. Subaru retailers believe in being a positive force in the communities in which they live and work, not just with donations, but with actions that set an example for others to follow. By inviting their showroom guests to write a note of support for patients, they are doing just that – being an example and encouraging others to also lift up those facing challenging times. Jennifer Beskar, Subaru team member who has been part of the delivery team in previous years, shared that this year’s delivery was even more special because they got to hand some blankets directly to patients this year. This is particularly meaningful as a loved one of hers has battled blood cancer. She said, “I simply wanted to give a hug to each patient.” Mission accomplished, Walser Subaru St. Paul! You are making a big difference in your community and LLS thanks you on behalf of our blood cancer patients!

At Walser Subaru St. Paul, we believe love is more than a feeling — it's action. This week, we had the honor of presenting a check to Living Well Disability Services, an organization that shows us what true inclusion and compassion look like every day. This Earth Day, Walser Subaru gave out trees with a partnership. Through the Subaru Love Promise and in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, we gave away free trees to our community — because a greener tomorrow starts with action today. Each tree planted helps purify the air, support wildlife, and build a healthier planet for future generations. We ended up giving out over 50 trees to support this cause.

This October, Walser Subaru St. Paul proudly hosted our annual Make a Dog’s Day event, a special day dedicated to helping our community’s shelter dogs find loving homes. With a mission to bring happiness and comfort to adoptable dogs, we partnered with a local shelter to create a fun, welcoming space where families could meet their potential new best friends. The dealership was full of energy as people strolled through, meeting dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities. Another highlight was seeing people who weren’t necessarily ready to adopt spend time cuddling, petting, and playing with dogs who could use the love. By the end of the day, dozens of dogs found homes, and many more left the dealership feeling loved, appreciated, and adored. Families took photos with their new furry friends, and each adoption was celebrated by our team members, who were thrilled to have been part of such meaningful connections. As we wrapped up, everyone at Walser Subaru St. Paul felt proud to be part of this community. Each adoption story was a reminder of our Love Promise: to care for our community, our people, and, of course, our pets. This day wasn’t just about finding homes for dogs; it was about making lasting memories, supporting our community, and celebrating the bonds that make us all a family.

Walser Subaru staff shared warmth and love with the patients at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN on June 6th as part of their Subaru Loves to Care program. Throughout the month of May customers of Walser Subaru were invited to write a note of encouragement to oncology patients, and these notes were partnered with warm fleece blankets as a gesture of support during their cancer treatment. Cancer patients at Health Partners Cancer Center at Regions Hospital know the significance and meaning behind this generous gift. Many patients go into the clinic for regular chemotherapy infusions, which last hours, and tend to make the patient get “chemo chills”. The staff said they have between 90 to 110 patients per day receiving infusions. These blankets are meant to provide warmth and comfort to the patients during these treatments and beyond. Therefore, the blankets are practical and symbolic of the “warmth” being shared by their community. The staff of Walser Subaru feel strongly about supporting the Twin Cities community and have been generous in their support for years. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is honored to play a role in connecting generous Subaru retailers with cancer facilities to improve the quality of life of patients and their families throughout their treatment and survivorship.

According to AdoptAClassroom.org, more than 92 percent of classrooms have students whose families cannot afford to purchase any school supplies for their children. Many teachers are filling the gap by spending their own money, on average up to $750 each year, to equip their classrooms and students. Walser Subaru St. Paul continues to work hard to provide a better learning community and show that Subaru is one of the most caring brands in the nation.

The rescue of homeless animals is a world wide endeavor. Rescue groups from across the world connect with organizations like Animal Ark, to bring dogs to Minnesota to find their forever homes. This would not be possible without sponsors like Subaru, whose Love Promise supports our mission. This is Spike’s story. Hi, my name is Spike. I am a shy handsome 2 year old Saluki mix pup. If you are not familiar with this breed, it is a breed commonly found in the country of Oman. When I was a small pup I traveled on a big airplane with my brother Digger and a few other canine friends to find our forever families. Animal Ark took us in, gave us a warm place to stay, and showed us the world does not have to be a scary place. I learned to walk on a leash, take rides in a car, and trust my volunteers who came to play with me. The world is still scary sometimes, but I found a family who loves me just as I am. Together, we will have more adventures in this beautiful place called Minnesota. If you are looking for a shy handsome boy like me, my brother Digger is still looking for his family. Hi, my name is Squirt and I am a very special cat. I was found by a local farmer, who could tell I needed some medical help and a warm place to stay. Animal Ark took me in, gave me a warm bed, plenty to eat and medical care. I was found to be a special boy with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. I am not sure what those big words mean, but it causes me to wobble a bit. My new family found me at the Ark, and fell in love with my specialness. They researched my special condition and were determined to adopt me. I am now thriving in my new home. My happy ending is all due to sponsors like Walser Subaru St. Paul, who help Animal Ark rescue special needs animals like me! Thank you

In the spring of 2022, Walser Subaru St. Paul partnered with Mn Adult and Teen Challenge to raise $75,000 at their annual Gala. Friends of MnTC bought raffle tickets for a chance to win a new Subaru Crosstrek that would be given away at the end of the evening on May 20th. 750 tickets were sold and every dollar stays in Minnesota to help men, women and teens find freedom from addiction. Many who struggle with addiction, have no resources to get long-term support, but at MnTC we offer a 12 month residential program at little to no cost for those who need it. These funds will help over 45 people change their lives for good.

At Guiding Star Wakota we see so many women and their families in need of love, support, and encouragement. Clients come through our doors in need of diapers and wipes, and to their surprise, find out about our many opportunities we offer here at Guiding Star Wakota. We offer everything from pregnancy tests, parenting and budgeting classes to life coaching. There is nothing better than seeing a family light up when they find hope in a situation in which they once felt hopeless or helpless. We had a client come in feeling downhearted and dejected. There was so much going on in her life and she just kept saying "I'm here for positivity.” Our staff watched as our life coach was able to walk through her past, offer her encouragement and find that positive spirit she was looking for. After life coaching and a pep talk with our business coach, that same client left so inspired, that she ran home to work on her business. It was such a gift to see her come back the next week for our client-led art therapy class. She was so excited about the many things she has been working on since her life and business coaching. With your phenomenal donation through the Share the Love event, we are able to help so many more women and their families, in the Twin Cities and the surrounding suburbs.

The unpredictability of canceled or virtual fundraising events, loss of sponsors, and overall staffing issues have created concern in the nonprofit sector. We’re proud to make this impact at a key time in the communities where we live and work.

Otto embodied the type of worst-case scenario Animal Ark sees all-too-often. But his case was so severe it shocked even us. This English/French bulldog mix was found abandoned in a crate along I-94 in Minneapolis. A Good Samaritan found Otto and brought him to our shelter. Abandonment is cruel under any circumstances, but when combined with Otto’s obvious physical and emotional neglect, even our seasoned staff wept in sadness and anger. Otto was in horrible physical condition. He was severely dehydrated, peeing blood, and suffered from Lyme disease. What’s more, Otto had just one functional eye and exhibited aggression toward cats, dogs and small children. Otto found three separate homes but was returned each time due to his aggression issues. Just about the time we resigned ourselves to Otto being a full-time, forever resident of our shelter, a woman dropped by the shelter to meet him. There’s a certain breed of pet owner in the world that seeks challenging cases like Otto’s. This second Good Samaritan in Otto’s life welcomed him into her home and gave him just the right mix of love, patience and discipline. Otto is well on his way to becoming a stellar canine. For Otto, the fourth time was a charm. He is happy, healthy and increasingly well-behaved in his forever home. Many shelters would have chosen euthanasia for Otto due to his physical and behavioral challenges. Not Animal Ark: We gave him the medical care, patience and TLC he needed ‘til he found his forever home. Subaru’s gift to our shelter allows us to focus on Otto’s needs without adding the worry of financial constraints. We are proud to partner with Walser Subaru St Paul in this event and in future events when COVID no longer keeps us apart. Thank you from Animal Ark and all the future Otto’s we can save!
