In addition, through our partnerships with Staples and Adoptaclassroom.org we supported teachers and students with donations of $400,000 in gift cards and school supplies.
In a perfect world, hunger would be history and hope would be commonplace. We believe a perfect world is possible.

During the year of 2022, Walser Subaru St. Paul decided to provide support to the teachers and students at Kaposia Education Center Elementary School. During that time, Subaru St. Paul donated $12,000, 20 supply kits, and supported over 600 students! Teachers at Kaposia Education Center Elementary School like Lisa Gorman, decided to use that money “to purchase diverse books, pencils, crayons, markers and many other learning tools!” Fifth grade teacher Marcy Caridad, decided to use the donation money “to buy essentials like tissue paper, notebooks, and other materials for learning.” Through the AdoptAClassroom.org partnership, automaker and retailers have helped more than 300,000 students nationwide get the resources their classrooms need to succeed. According to AdoptAClassroom.org, more than 92 percent of classrooms have students whose families cannot afford to purchase any school supplies for their children. Many teachers are filling the gap by spending their own money, on average up to $750 each year, to equip their classrooms and students. Walser Subaru St. Paul continues to work hard to provide a better learning community and show that Subaru is one of the most caring brands in the nation.
The rescue of homeless animals is a world wide endeavor. Rescue groups from across the world connect with organizations like Animal Ark, to bring dogs to Minnesota to find their forever homes. This would not be possible without sponsors like Subaru, whose Love Promise supports our mission. This is Spike’s story. Hi, my name is Spike. I am a shy handsome 2 year old Saluki mix pup. If you are not familiar with this breed, it is a breed commonly found in the country of Oman. When I was a small pup I traveled on a big airplane with my brother Digger and a few other canine friends to find our forever families. Animal Ark took us in, gave us a warm place to stay, and showed us the world does not have to be a scary place. I learned to walk on a leash, take rides in a car, and trust my volunteers who came to play with me. The world is still scary sometimes, but I found a family who loves me just as I am. Together, we will have more adventures in this beautiful place called Minnesota. If you are looking for a shy handsome boy like me, my brother Digger is still looking for his family. Hi, my name is Squirt and I am a very special cat. I was found by a local farmer, who could tell I needed some medical help and a warm place to stay. Animal Ark took me in, gave me a warm bed, plenty to eat and medical care. I was found to be a special boy with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. I am not sure what those big words mean, but it causes me to wobble a bit. My new family found me at the Ark, and fell in love with my specialness. They researched my special condition and were determined to adopt me. I am now thriving in my new home. My happy ending is all due to sponsors like Walser Subaru St. Paul, who help Animal Ark rescue special needs animals like me! Thank you
During Subaru Loves Pets month, Walser Subaru St. Paul held a Pet Adoption Event and Food Drive for our favorite local no-kill animal shelter, Animal Ark. 🐾 We delivered ~200lbs of pet food thanks to all of our customers generous contributions! 🥰 Oct. 22nd is National Make A Dogs Day. This national day was intended to encourage adoption of 'Underdogs,' a term coined by Subaru of America, Inc. for dogs with special conditions or needs.

Walser Subaru St. Paul put on a car show, Subarus & Cold Brews, for car enthusiasts of Minnesota. Part of the event was a food drive to benefit our local food shelf, Neighbors Inc and local no-kill animal shelter, Animal Ark. The food drive brought in 105 lbs. of people food & 95 lbs. of pet food! This was at a time that food reserves were the lowest they had been in years. We are truly thankful for all the food donations that MN car enthusiasts brought to Subarus & Cold Brews. We're already looking forward to next years event!
Walser Subaru St. Paul ran the annual Shop For A Cause campaign in June, a fundraiser benefiting non-profits covering a wide range of social services including; homelessness, addiction recovery and mental health, assistance dogs, youth art/design and protecting/preserving Minnesota's wildlife habitat, clean water, outdoor experiences and scenic beauty for generations to come. Before getting the keys to their new car, customers could choose from a menu of local non-profits to support: Avivo, Juxtaposition Arts, Helping Paws or Minnesota Land Trust. Walser Subaru St. Paul was able to raise a total of $3,925 to aid the various non-profits in our communities. Walser Auto Group as a whole generated $94,000 to benefit local non-profits. Thank you to everyone that bought a vehicle/donated during Shop For A Cause to support these organizations! Shop For A Cause continues to be one of our customers and employees favorite themes throughout the year. We’re proud to make a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.
In the spring of 2022, Walser Subaru St. Paul partnered with Mn Adult and Teen Challenge to raise $75,000 at their annual Gala. Friends of MnTC bought raffle tickets for a chance to win a new Subaru Crosstrek that would be given away at the end of the evening on May 20th. 750 tickets were sold and every dollar stays in Minnesota to help men, women and teens find freedom from addiction. Many who struggle with addiction, have no resources to get long-term support, but at MnTC we offer a 12 month residential program at little to no cost for those who need it. These funds will help over 45 people change their lives for good.
At Guiding Star Wakota we see so many women and their families in need of love, support, and encouragement. Clients come through our doors in need of diapers and wipes, and to their surprise, find out about our many opportunities we offer here at Guiding Star Wakota. We offer everything from pregnancy tests, parenting and budgeting classes to life coaching. There is nothing better than seeing a family light up when they find hope in a situation in which they once felt hopeless or helpless. We had a client come in feeling downhearted and dejected. There was so much going on in her life and she just kept saying "I'm here for positivity.” Our staff watched as our life coach was able to walk through her past, offer her encouragement and find that positive spirit she was looking for. After life coaching and a pep talk with our business coach, that same client left so inspired, that she ran home to work on her business. It was such a gift to see her come back the next week for our client-led art therapy class. She was so excited about the many things she has been working on since her life and business coaching. With your phenomenal donation through the Share the Love event, we are able to help so many more women and their families, in the Twin Cities and the surrounding suburbs.
The dreary days days of February were a bit brighter thanks to the generosity and kindness of our friends at Walser Subaru St. Paul who put together "Show Some Love" kits personalized for youth participants in programs at The Bridge. Crafted with love just in time for Valentines Day, the kits included journals, pens, coloring books, chocolate/candy, and a personal note to remind youth today and everyday they are loved.
February 2021, Walser Subaru St. Paul participated in an in-store volunteer event. Walser Subaru St. Paul contributed to the approximately 150 telehealth kits decorated and filled, made 40 Chewelry necklaces for Fraser. As an Auto Group we assembled personal hygiene kits and snack kits for The Link, Love One Another and Simpson Housing Services, and we assembled 900 snack kits with personalized notes for MATTER. The team at Walser Subaru St. Paul had a blast making these telehealth kits/necklaces/etc for those in need and felt great making a difference in our communities!
Walser Subaru St. Paul partnered with Second Harvest Heartland, the Midwest's largest Hunger Relief organization, in a Drive To End Hunger during the month of October. Customers, Employees, Family and Friends were encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items to help feed those in need during the Holidays. To make an even bigger impact - For every pound of food collected, $1 was donated to support those in need! $1 donated to Second Harvest Heartland helps provide 3 meals to families in need. Walser Subaru St. Paul helped contribute to the total of 8,571 lbs (and $8,571 donated, which equals 25,713 meals!) collected across Minnesota Walser stores!
June 2021, Walser Subaru St. Paul ran the annual Shop For A Cause campaign, a fundraiser benefiting nonprofits covering a wide range of social services, including support for veterans, mental health services, LGBTQ+ youth, wealth-building initiatives in BIPOC communities, teachers, and rescue animals. Before getting the keys to their new car, customers could choose from a menu of local nonprofits to support: Every Third Saturday, Nexus Community Partners, People Incorporated, The Bridge For Youth, Project Teacher, Rise Up For Youth, and Beauties & Beasts. Walser Subaru St. Paul was able to raise a total of $4,425 to aid the various non-profits in our communities. Thank you to everyone that bought a vehicle/donated during Shop For a Cause to support these organizations! Shop For a Cause was incredibly well received by our customers. People are genuinely excited to learn about these organizations and give back, especially in this time of heightened need. Covid-19 has profoundly impacted nonprofits and communities. The unpredictability of canceled or virtual fundraising events, loss of sponsors, and overall staffing issues have created concern in the nonprofit sector. We’re proud to make this impact at a key time in the communities where we live and work.
Otto embodied the type of worst-case scenario Animal Ark sees all-too-often. But his case was so severe it shocked even us. This English/French bulldog mix was found abandoned in a crate along I-94 in Minneapolis. A Good Samaritan found Otto and brought him to our shelter. Abandonment is cruel under any circumstances, but when combined with Otto’s obvious physical and emotional neglect, even our seasoned staff wept in sadness and anger. Otto was in horrible physical condition. He was severely dehydrated, peeing blood, and suffered from Lyme disease. What’s more, Otto had just one functional eye and exhibited aggression toward cats, dogs and small children. Otto found three separate homes but was returned each time due to his aggression issues. Just about the time we resigned ourselves to Otto being a full-time, forever resident of our shelter, a woman dropped by the shelter to meet him. There’s a certain breed of pet owner in the world that seeks challenging cases like Otto’s. This second Good Samaritan in Otto’s life welcomed him into her home and gave him just the right mix of love, patience and discipline. Otto is well on his way to becoming a stellar canine. For Otto, the fourth time was a charm. He is happy, healthy and increasingly well-behaved in his forever home. Many shelters would have chosen euthanasia for Otto due to his physical and behavioral challenges. Not Animal Ark: We gave him the medical care, patience and TLC he needed ‘til he found his forever home. Subaru’s gift to our shelter allows us to focus on Otto’s needs without adding the worry of financial constraints. We are proud to partner with Walser Subaru St Paul in this event and in future events when COVID no longer keeps us apart. Thank you from Animal Ark and all the future Otto’s we can save!
